Greenpeace on e-Waste
Apart from all the images you’d expect of baby seals, eco-warriors and anti-nuclear protesters, the Greenpeace media archive also includes some memorable images showing the horrendous conditions suffered by workers in china and india, as they recycle the electronics and computer waste dumped on them by the west.
-

“A worker in a electronic waste (e-waste) recycling yard in Delhi. Greenpeace releases a report of its scientific investigations into the hazardous chemicals found in the scrap yards where electronic waste is recycled in China and India.”
-
“Close up of a huge pile of computer keyboards waiting to be scrapped. These are likely to have been thrown away in Europe, US or Japan and then dumped in China because it is cheaper to dump this hazardous waste in China than dispose of it properly.” -
“Chinese woman smelts computer circuit boards over an open stove to extract metals. The fan is vain attempt to disperse the highly toxic fumes created by the smelting.”

How is Greenpeace helping to stop the commercial dumping of E-Waste? Apart from protesting and asking countries to dispose of their waste. Is there anything major that GP is helping to do.
